Kiln dried White Oak lumber with a quartersawn grain. Light to medium brown with olive cast color. Hardness is 1360 pounds per square foot.

Color: Heartwood is a light to medium brown, commonly with an olive cast. Paler sapwood is not always sharply demarcated from the heartwood. Quartersawn sections display prominent ray fleck patterns.

Grain/Texture: Grain is straight, with a coarse, uneven texture. Quartersawn grain shows more of the ray fleck pattern.

Rot Resistance: Rated as very durable; frequently used in boatbuilding and tight cooperage applications.

Workability: Produces good results with hand and machine tools. Has moderately high shrinkage values, resulting in mediocre dimensional stability, especially in flatsawn boards. Can react with iron (particularly when wet) and cause staining and discoloration. Responds well to steam-bending. Glues, stains, and finishes well.

Common Uses: Cabinetry, furniture, interior trim, flooring, boatbuilding, barrels, and veneer.

Our lumber undergoes a specialized drying process in a large kiln, which removes moisture and results in a more stable and high-quality product. The kiln drying process helps to minimize the risk of warping, splitting, or twisting that is often associated with green or air-dried wood.

Our price is per board foot. Should you need help calculating how much you have or will need for your project, feel free to contact us!
