All lumber that is destined to be used in your next woodworking project should be dried to remove the excess moisture in the lumber. If not dried, the lumber can shrink, and in some cases altogether ruin the project that so much time and care was put into.

Drying times will vary throughout the year depending on the lumber thickness, initial moisture content, humidity, ambient temperature, and hours of daylight. You can generally expect 4-8 weeks of drying time for 5/4 lumber during the summer and at least 3 to 4 months during the winter. We are able to dry lumber as long as 18’. We dry all lumber that we receive to between 7% and 10%. In most cases the lumber will pick up some moisture after it has left the kiln.
